Captain America 3: Civil War is now screening. The casting is powerful. All characters except Thor and Hulk show up in the movie. Some of the fans and audiences said that the movie was named Avengers 2.5.
USA is skilled in super hero’s story. Comic is the earliest format, and it serves as a model of the later TV dramas and movies. The comic in USA style is vivid, contrasted with thicker line. The figure and the appearance of the characters are more realistic. When the story is converted to movie, all the roles look like the original copy.
What if super heroes become Japanese? Or what if we rebuild the screen in the cinema to a stage of Chinese Opera? Some of the artists has tried to mixed Avengers together with Japanese and Chinese art recently. Let’s explore together!
Ukiyo-e from Japan
Ukiyo-e are the traditional drawing of Japan derive from Edo period. It is one of the block print, and themed as daily lifestyle and landscape. There are in different topic and style, like female beauties, histories, flowers and birds, sumo wrestler, warrior, etc. The warrior represents the brave fighters from legend and literature. Isn’t it the best genre for Avengers?

Avengers On the Stage
Chinese Opera is the quintessence of Chinese culture and one of most complicated style of drama. The Chinese illustrator, daybreak, has transformed the Western hero’s movie to a Chinese style. You can litterally feel the Chemical reaction bursting out.
There are four major roles in Chinese Oprea, “Sheng” (Men), “Dan” (Women), “Jing” (Painted face male role), “Chou” (Male clown role). How will you assign role of the above for Avengers?
According to the traditional Chinese Opera, the masks represent different characters. Do you think they match with Avengers?
Red: Honest, loyal,
Black: Justice
Blue: Tough
Green: Brave, irritable
Yellow: Skillful in fighting, cruel
Gold and Sliver: Mysterious, represents God or monster
White: Sinister, callous, a villain

The Eight Immortals Cross the Sea is the famous Chinese mythology. The proverb of “each immortal is showing his (her) special power” which is similar to the different power of the eight Avengers. I think the best casting is Zhang Guolao (Captain America). As both of them are aged, but they still have a strong body with the anti-aging face.
